European train services

Those European participants who attend the Graz hub may consider taking the train. The cheapest and easiest alternative is often to buy an Interrail ticket and include some extra travel days for a holiday after the conference.

For international timetables, visit this page.

Remember to book high-speed French trains (TGV) and the channel tunnel (Eurostar) two months in advance (! mid April !), because these trains have limited numbers of Interrail seats. You can make reservations here.

Night trains must be booked in every country. There is a direct night train between Graz and Zürich. Direct night trains to Vienna start from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Krakow, Milan, Rome, Stuttgart, Venice, and Warsaw. The scenic trip from Vienna to Graz takes 2 hours 40 minutes and trains run hourly. Find more information here.

All night trains in Austria are listed here.

For advice on the most practical and comfortable routes, the cheapest tickets (including Sparschiene and Interrail), and the necessary advance reservations, conference participants may contact our colleague in the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB): Nicole Reichhold, nicole.reichhold(at)pv.oebb.at
